Women collectors played vital role in peaceful polls

Lucknow: Thirteen Women IAS officers have been posted as District Collectors in 13 districts of UP. These officers’ contribution in the recently concluded assembly elections in the state helped conduction of a peaceful and fair elections. of these 13 officers, majorly of them from the 2013 batch and none of the women officers have been previously promoted from the IAS State cadre.

The state currently has IAS officers from batch 2006 to 2013 posted as DMs of various districts and of these officers 62 DMs are male while 13 female officers are at the helm of district.

2006 batch IAS officer Selva Kumari J who is the current DM of Aligarh was recently promoted to the rank of commissioner and since the elections are over, she is soon expected to be removed from her current posting as the DM of Aligarh.

IAS officer Selva Kumari J’s husband Ranvir Prasad is an IAS officers too of UP Cadre 2000 batch and is currently posted as the Relief Commissioner. IAS Shurti Singh of Chhattisgarh cadre and 2006 batch is currently DM of Etawah and she too was recently promoted. Since the elections are over, the state government may soon remove her from the post and give her new assignment.

The other prominent women officers posted as the DM include 2008 batch IAS officer Soumya Agarwal who is posted as DM of Basti, 2010 batch IAS Neha Sharma, DM of Kanpur Nagar, 2011 batch IAS Shruti posted as the DM of Balrampur, 2012 batch IAS Neha Prakash posted as DM Shravasti, 2012 batch IAS Jasjit Kaur who is posted as the District Magistrate of Shamli, 2013 batch IAS Divya Mittal, posted as DM of Sant Kabir Nagar, 2013 batch IAS Priyanka Ranjan who is posted as the District Magistrate of Jalaun, 2013 batch IAS Apoorva Dubey DM of Fatehpur, 2013 batch IAS Harshita Mathur DM, Kasganj.
