Will there be a Chautala family?

New Delhi: After the results of the Rajya Sabha elections in Haryana, many possibilities are being discussed, but an important possibility has arisen that the Chautala family can come together as one as efforts are being made in this regard for the last few days. Now it seems that a concrete step has been taken in that direction. The lone MLA of the Indian National Lok Dal (INLD) Abhay Chautala has cast his vote for independent candidate Kartikeya Sharma. This in itself is a sign that the campaign to unite the Chautala family has gone ahead. Keep in mind that Karthikeya Sharma was made a candidate by the Jannayak Janata Party, which is part of the Haryana govt. He was an independent but was nominated by 10 JJP MLAs. Jannayak Janata Party is led by Dushyant Chautala, son of Ajay Chautala, brother of Abhay Chautala. Given the kind of enmity that existed in the Chautala family until recently, it was difficult to imagine that Abhay Chautala would vote for Dushyant Chautala’s candidate. Before voting, Bhupinder Singh Hooda and Congress leaders were confident that Abhay Chautala would not vote for anyone. But he voted for the candidate supported by Dushyant Chautala.

After this the possibility of coming together of both the families has increased. It is being told that as long as Omp r a k a s h Chautala was out of jail, he kept trying to unite the family. But now that he is in jail, efforts are still underway. One hurdle in that is about the party leadership. Dushyant Chautala’s brother Digvijay Chautala says that if JJP and INLD are one, then command of party will be in the hands of his father, Ajay Chautala. On the other hand, INLD leaders want that Dushyant is Dy CM, so the command of the party should remain in the hands of Abhay Chautala
