Will Arvind Kejriwal expand his cabinet?

New Delhi: There are a total of seven ministers including Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the government of the national capital Delhi. One of these ministers, Satyendra Jain, is lodged in jail and the other minister, Rajendra Pal Gautam, has resigned. CM Arvind Kejriwal himself has not kept any ministry with him. So, effectively, there are only four ministers in the Delhi govt right now. These four ministers have all the portfolios. Delhi’s Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia officially has 18 ministries, which include all the big ministries like Home, Finance, Education, Power, Water, Urban Development. Apart from this, it has also been written on the website of Delhi Government that all the depts which have not been given to any other minister are also with Sisodia.

Recently, when Satyendra Jain was arrested and was lodged in jail, almost all his ministries were given to Sisodia. Now that Rajendra Pal Gautam has resigned, his ministries have also been divided among the remaining four ministers. Then the question is, will Arvind Kejriwal expand his govt now? Or will wait for Sisodia to go to jail too? He himself has said many times that Sisodia can be arrested in the case of liquor policy. However, informed sources say that he will keep Satyendra Jain as the minister. A Dalit leader can be made a minister in place of Rajendra Pal Gautam. In this context, the name of Mangolpuri MLA Rakhi Birla, who is currently the deputy Speaker, is in the running. Apart from this, names of Karol Bagh MLA Vishesh Ravi and Kondli MLA Kuldeep Kumar are also doing the rounds.
