Why hasn’t Karanvir Bohra been able to make his mark in the industry despite a good list of projects?

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Shararat was every 90s kid’s favourite show that introduced the television to some great talents. Shruti Seth became a household name after her portrayal of the beautiful teenage witch, Jia Malhotra, on the show. Jia’s love interest Dhruv, played by Karanvir Bohra went ahead to become every teenage girl’s love interest too. With a very promising career ahead of him, everyone thought that the boy would go ahead and make his mark in the industry. But 19 years later, we see him trying to save his drowning career on a reality show such as Lock Upp. Is a stable career not in the actor’s fate or is he cursed?

The actor has had many great projects under his name and yet, he could stand on his own in this industry filled with new talents. He was part of the most popular television show ‘Kasauti Zindagi Ki’ in 2003 where his role as Prem Bajaj had received immense love. After Shararat and Kasauti, the actor got his Bollywood break with a supporting role in the film Kismat Konnection starring Shahid Kapoor and Vidya Balan. However, the movie bombed hard at the box office and took down KVB’s Bollywood career.

A light of hope emerged after he was praised for his acting in ‘Dil Se Di Dua…Saubhagyavati Bhava’ which he snatched away himself after he left the show to revive his film career. But after some bad B-grade movies, the actor returned to television as he replaced Karan Singh Grover in Qubool Hai. However, the TRP ratings of the show that was previously running well, fell as soon as he joined the cast. Since then, the actor could be seen in one or two mediocre web shows.

He also entered season 12 of the reality show Big Boss boastingly, yet came out of the show as soon as he went in. Karanvir was recently seen in the web reality show ‘Lock Upp’ where he was an inmate contending for the winning trophy. He was eliminated last week after receiving the lowest votes from people. What shocked the fans was his poor attempts to gain his faded popularity by asking fellow contestant Anjali Arora to involve with him in a love angle. Anjali ousted the already married actor on the show where she openly declared his schemes.

The pattern here seems that even with a talent for acting and some good projects under his name, KVB still could not succeed. Will Lock Upp finally revive the actor’s career or will he succumb to the stereotype of doing lousy reality shows?
