Vistara is Number 2 in domestic aviation

Mumbai: Full service airline Vistara on Thursday emerged as the new number 2 in the domestic aviation market, carrying more passengers than Air India, Go First, and Spicejet and grabbing its highest ever market share of 10.4 per cent.

According to the air traffic report released by the Directorate of Civil Aviation for July 2022, Vistara, a joint venture between Tata Sons and Singapore International Airlines, carried 10.13 lakh domestic passengers in July compared to 8.14 lakh by Air India, 7.76 lakh by SpiceJet, and 7.95 lakh by Wadia group’s Go First. Low cost carrier IndiGo maintained its numero uno position in the market ferrying 57.11 lakh passengers and bagged its highest market share of 58.8 per cent so far in 2022. This is Vistara’s highest ever market share since it started operations in January 2015. While IndiGo has been way ahead in the domestic aviation market, 2022 has witnessed intense competition between SpiceJet, Go First, Air India, and Vistara.
