Vikram Vedha flops at the box office as it fails to earn significant numbers

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Vikram Vedha has been in the theatres for quite some time now but seems to be garnering low audience rate with each passing day. The film starring Hrithik Roshan and Saif Ali Khan was critically acclaimed for its power packed performances with Hrithik especially gaining all the attention for his bone-chilling portrayal of Vedha. However, despite the mass appeal of its incredible cast, the film refused to perform well at the box office. It opened low, did slightly well on the weekdays but the numbers in the second week fell extremely low that it seems impossible for the film to reach a three digit net mark.

A total of Rs. 85 crore nett mark in India and another 4.5-5 million dollars gross (Rs. 36-40 crore) from the overseas is expected from the film, totalling its global net worth to Rs 140 crore. There are several factors that are stated to have resulted in the downfall of the film including the availability of its original Telugu version on all streaming platforms for free, a night before the Hindi one was released. The film had already been receiving flak for being a remake of the R Madhavan and Vijay Sethupathi starrer which added to its failure. Some other factors that suggest towards the underperformance of the film are the facts that Hrithik Roshan's character lacked a romantic track and the film overall did not have good songs, two things essential to attract the masses.

Several offers and discounts were made on the prices of the tickets to lure the audience but the efforts were to no vail. This broke the misunderstanding that low ticket prices attract people, as was seen on the National Cinema Day. Vikram Vedha is expected to earn around Rs 1.25 - 1.5 crore in the weekdays of its second week and will lose shows to the Ayushmann Khurrana starrer, Doctor G which has gained significant attention. Hence, Vikram Vedha can be considered a box office flop even though it has performed better than some other A-listed films. The numbers remain to be disappointing to call it a success.
