Vijay Varma recalls his journey from being told he is not Shah Rukh Khan to now starring in his film
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Vijay Varma is one of the rarest gems in the Hindi film industry who has paved his way to the top from nothing. From doing plays in his hometown to now being the lead actor in a highly acclaimed film, the actor has seen it all. The actor too revealed during a recent interview that not everything was smooth sailing and he had to face backlash as well.
The Pink actor revealed how he was told by someone during his struggling days, “Tu Shah Rukh Khan nahi hai.” Adding to the incident, Vijay further said that now Shah Rukh Khan himself has employed him for his film. Vijay plays the role of Hamza in Netflix’s film Darlings. He is shown as the abusive and alcoholic husband of Alia Bhatt who then becomes the subject of her torture when she decides to fight back. Along with the two, the film also stars Shefali Shah as Alia’s mother and Roshan Matthew as Alia’s close aide.
The film was released on the OTT platform on July 5 with much appreciation and praise. The film marks the first collaboration between Alia and Vijay and the former’s first film as a producer as well. The actor was last seen in the highly acclaimed OTT series, Mirzapur where he portrayed the double role of twins Bharat and Shatrughan Tyagi.
