Vidya Balan opens up about gender pay gap, working after marriage and more in recent Q&A

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Vidya Balan is a class apart when it comes to films, public appearances and answering difficult questions with excellence. She has created a standard for herself with the different choices of films she has made and by portraying some of the most difficult roles with ease. She is also known for her witty and funny self and is known to be the entertainment package when it comes to interviews. Recently, the actress held a Q&A session on her Instagram stories and asked her fans to ask anything related to ‘Women, Work and Women at Work’.

When asked if work life changed after marriage, Vidya had a witty reply as she said, “It did, for the better. It was 'I work' before, it became 'We work' now.” One fan asked the actress’ opinion on women being paid lesser than men. Vidya wittily answered, “Is sawal ka jawab mujhe bhi chahiye.” Answering whether it is wrong to depend financially on the husband, Vidya said, “No, not at all, it’s her choice, but I personally feel coffee tastes better when you can afford it yourself. You heard it! It’s your choice!”

Vidya Balan has been the pioneer of women-centric and feminist films where she has portrayed some strong characters, be it in Dirty Picture, Kahaani, Sherni, or Shakuntala Devi. She recently returned from London after wrapping the schedule of her next film, Neeyat.
