Varun Dhawan on being diagnosed with vestibular hypofunction: I just shut down

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Varun Dhawan is one of the most sought after actors in Bollywood with a number of projects lined up. Although many see him as a cheerful and happy packet of energy, he recently opened up about the time he shut down. In a recent interview, Varun revealed how everyone stepped into a rat race not long after the pandemic got over. Revealing how he also is a part of it, Varun mentioned that he pushed himself too hard while promoting his last film 'JugJugg Jeeyo'.

He said in an interview with India Today, "The minute we opened doors, don’t you think we went back to the same rat race? How many people here can say that they have changed? I see people working even harder! In fact, I started pushing so much harder (with) my film JugJugg Jeeyo, it felt like I was running for an election. I don’t know why, but I put so much pressure on myself."

"Recently, I just shut down. I didn’t know what had happened to me. I had this thing called vestibular hypofunction, (where) basically your balance goes off. But I just pushed myself so hard. We are just running in this race, nobody is asking why. I think there is a greater purpose (why) we are all here. I am trying to find mine, and hopefully, people will find theirs, he continued.

Varun will next be seen in the horror-comedy, Bhediya alongside Kriti Sanon and Abhishek Banerjee. He was last seen in the Dharma film JugJugg Jeeyo with Kiara Advani, Anil Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Maniesh Paul and Prajakta Koli. The film became the the second hit of Bollywood this year after the much appreciated Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. The film which was directed by Raj Mehta went on to earn Rs 135 crore worldwide.
