Vagad region gets light 1st time since Independence

Banswara: Under the Saubhagya scheme of the Central government, Ajmer Discom did the work of providing electricity to remote villages through a solar panel in the Vagad region.

These tribal dominated villages had not been electrified ever since Independence, said an official.

For the tribals living in Tibulipada village of Ghatol assembly constituency, 35 km away from Banswara district headquarters, many houses were without electricity but the Saubhagya scheme brought a ray of hope.

Ajmer Discom, under the Off Grid Saubhagya Yojana, gave solar panels to the villagers. One table fan, 5 LED lights and 80 hp battery controller were installed in 200 watt solar panels.

Three years ago, under the Saubhagya scheme of the Central government, more than 25,000 families of the district gained from installation of solar panels by Ajmer Vidyut Vitran Limited.
