Uttarakhand: Met Department issues yellow alert for rain in Pithorgarh, Bageshwar
Dehradun: A yellow alert for heavy rain has been issued for Pithorgarh and Bageshwaer districts of Uttarakhand, as per forecast issued by the Meteorological Center on Saturday.
Additionally, heavy to very heavy rain is predicted in the districts of Almora, Champawat, Nainital, and Udham Singh Nagar.
At the same time, light to moderate rain is expected to occur in Dehradun, Haridwar, Pauri, Tehri, Chamoli, Rudraprayag, and Uttarkashi districts.
Earlier on September 26, a road connecting Budhakedar and Jhalabeen villages in Tehri Garhwal district was damaged due to the heavy rains here.
District Disaster Management Officer Brijesh Bhatt said that the incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday.
No injuries or loss of life were reported in the incident. However, an earth mover machine was damaged, he said.
"The PMGSE's reconstructed road has been damaged due to the rain on the intervening night of Wednesday and Thursday in the Budhakedar area. A Pokelin machine has been damaged. The road from Budhakedar to Jhala has been damaged. There has been no loss of life or animal loss," Brijesh Bhatt said.
Earlier on Thursday, a portion of the Badrinath National Highway was blocked due to aggregation of debris near Nandprayag and Chatwapipal.
However, the highway was restored for vehicular movement after repair. Badrinath Highway was blocked multiple times this monsoon due to adverse weather impacts.
The India Meteorological Department has predicted isolated heavy rainfall in Uttarakhand during September 25-27. "Isolated heavy rainfall very likely over Uttarakhand during 25-27; West Uttar Pradesh on 27; East Uttar Pradesh during September 26-28," the IMD release said earlier.
