UP CS Mishra to retire in Dec, might get extension

Lucknow: UP Chief Secretary Durga Shankar Mishra will retire on December 30. The 1984 batch IAS officer is counted among the most trusted officers of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Ahead of the UP assembly elections, it was decided to replace IAS Rajendra Kumar Tiwari and make Durga Shankar Mishra on central deputation as the Chief Secretary by giving a year’s extension. Mishra is the senior most IAS officer in the state’s bureaucracy. After that, Rajendra Kumar Tiwari, a 1985 batch IAS officer, is the chairman of UPSRTC and his retirement is also due in February 2023. The third is 1985 batch IAS Shalini Prasad Additional Sector Panchayati Raj on Central deputation. She is retiring in December 2022. The fourth is 1987 batch IAS Arun Singhal, who is posted at the Centre and his retirement is in May 2025. IAS Mahesh Kumar Gupta is the fifth senior most officer of the state and a 1987 batch officer, whose retirement is due in May 2024. If sources are to be believed, Mishra might get an extension as he has a good hold of bureaucracy at the Centre and state level and is a very hardworking and honest officer. Most of the senior officers of the state government are nearing retirement. Mishra also has the charge of Delhi Chief Resident Commissioner.
