UP: 5 SENIOR IPS OFFICERS SET TO RETIRE NEXT YEAR
Lucknow: In the Uttar Pradesh bureaucracy, year 2023 will bring in a ‘flood of retirements’ as five senior IPS officers will retire. With the retirement of 5 officers of DG rank, ADG officers will definitely get the benefit of promotion. However, everyone’s is more concerned about only one issue: Who will be the next UP DGP. Presently acting UP DGP Dr D S Chauhan will retire in March and according to sources, it is very difficult for IPS Devendra Singh Chauhan to get extension from the center because UPSC has already returned his file. Sources further reveal that in the new year, the center will finalize who will become the new DGP of Uttar Pradesh. At present, some officers of the bureaucracy are busy helping both the central and the state government. Among those who will retire in the new year are IPS Gopal Lal Meena DG Cooperative who will retire in January. IPS Dr Rajendra Pal Singh DG Training will retire in February, IPS Dr DS Chauhan DGP & DG Intelligence and Director Vigilance will retire in March while IPS Dr Raj Kumar Vishwakarma will retire in May, as will IPS Chandra Prakash DG Special Inquiry. Interestingly, for choosing the next DGP of Uttar Pradesh, the exercise will start in February and efforts will be made once again to stamp the name of DS Chauhan through another extension. With 2024 slated for Lok Sabha election, in such a situation, the better coordination between the state and the center will finalize the name of the DGP’s chair!
