Union Minister Shri Anurag Singh Thakur’s comments at the felicitation ceremony and 53-hour film-making challenge launch of ‘75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow’

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Union Minister Anurag Thakur graced the launch of the International Film Festival of India where he not only talked about the wide recognition that regional cinema has been given through IFFI but also the several initiatives that are a part of the festival. Marking the significance of films at the IFFI, Mr Thakur further talked about the measures taken by the government to make the festival beneficial for filmmakers.

He said, “It was last year that we embarked on this journey, led by the vision of the Hon. Prime Minister Sh Narendra Modi Ji to engage, encourage and explore the potential of our youth by providing them with a platform at IFFI. This is the second edition of 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow and we have already made a community of 150 strong individuals connected through their shared love for cinema, creativity and culture.”

“I would like to tell you about one of the winners of the 1st edition of 75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow – her name is Akshita Vohra she hails from Dehradun. Akshita was a part of a Writer’s Room for a 30-episode web show. I am told that ‘The Unknown Number,’ a short film written by Akshita was the official selection at the International Moving Film Festival Iran 2022 and other film festivals. She was also selected for a Writer’s Programme by NFDC and Netflix India,” he added.

Further talking about the creative economy and IFFI’s initiative to increase it, Anurag Thakur said, “Our Government is making an effort to generate employment, boost the ‘creative economy,’ mentor outstanding artists and encourage youngsters just like you to achieve cinematic excellence! IFFI is your platform to network, explore, collaborate and be inspired along the way! Who knows, some of you will go on to win National Film Awards, Grammys, Oscars and much more!”

“I encourage you, to tell the story of a rising, aspirational, new India - ready to lead the world as a rising power with a billion dreams and billion untold stories! My young friends, your selection also strengthens the culture of meritocracy in the country, and this is our effort to encourage, mould and mentor young minds from far-flung corners and provide them with unparalleled opportunities in the realm of Media and Entertainment.”
