Trailer review: Nushratt Bharuccha gives a feminist twist to the taboo of condoms

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Nushratt Bharuccha has created a niche for herself with unconventional and quirky films. The actress has not only given some amazing films, but she also has given some amazing performances, right from Sweety in Sonu ke Titu ki Sweety to Sakshi Devi in Amazon Prime’s Chhori. The actress has again come out with a quirky story but this time, with an important and grave message with it.

‘Janhit mein Jaari’ is a satirical comedy starring Nushratt Bharuccha, Vijay Raaz, Anud Singh Dhaka and Paritosh Tripathi among others. The trailer of the film was released on Friday, May 6, giving a glimpse into the world of Manu, a condom salesgirl. Nushratt Bharuccha has done a good job playing the role of Manu, but her comical punches may require a bit of polishing. Acting-wise, the actress has delivered a promising performance which makes one curious about the film.

Although the movie touches on a taboo topic in society, it is not the first film to talk about condoms. ‘Helmet’ a 2021 film starring Aparshakti Khurrana and Abhishek Bannerjee had spoken on the topic of condoms and how it is a taboo subject that no one wants to talk about openly. But the new angle that this movie offers is the feminist take on condoms.

One might think that what would be a feminist take on an item that is widely used by men. But the film has scored a plus point for making this feat possible. It relates condom usage to abortion and how the taboo around it has affected the lives of women.

The supporting cast has done a good job with Bollywood newbie, Anud Singh Dhaka, shining in the trailer of his debut film. Although the jokes thrown by Nushratt do not land properly at times, the supporting cast has done a good job of making viewers laugh.

Overall, the trailer looks engaging enough to make one interested in the movie. How will the movie turn out, now depends on the makers’ efforts. But this movie will sure start a discussion on an important subject which is the need of today’s time.
