Raqesh Bapat loves the hatred he gets for his negative role in Sarsenapati Hambirrao

Mumbai (Maharashtra): With theatres opening up, the carnival of cinema begins. The current era has broken the shackles with regional films earning a huge amount at the box office. The want to watch good content has now given a rise to quality films that can be watched irrespective of any language that was once a barrier.

Releasing one of its big-budget films, Sarsenapati Hambirrao makes a mark in the theatres. Director Pravin Tarde and dop Mahesh Limaye's brilliant cinematography brings one of the most historical chapters that happened in history. The applause and pin-drop silence during the war sequence makes it a complete film that one can watch.

What surprises everyone in the film is Raqesh Bapat who plays the character of Sarja Khan. The talented actor is playing the negative lead in this. This is the first time we see him playing a character which has made people hate him.

The hatred is not for him but of course for his character in the movie. The Pathan look of his long beard and turban makes him look fearful. To have seen a calm and composed Raqesh Bapat in real life to him in the movie, was a complete stunner.

Talking about his character in the film, Raqesh Bapat shares with us exclusively this where he says, “Sarsenapati Hambirrao' is a movie which is made on a huge scale. When I was approached for this character, I was a little dicey. This is something that I have never done before but as an artist, you would never want to miss a chance to play such a powerful character. Sarja Khan, Aurangzeb's Sardar is pitted opposite Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj’s senapati, Hambirrao.

I am happy that all the toil and efforts paid off. My fans have been praising me and are going to the theatres to watch me on the big screen. Can’t thank enough everyone who has been a part of my journey. I promise to work even more hard in the coming days.”

The narrative of watching a film has changed. The weightage has been given more to the concept and how well it is presented to its audience. 'Sarsenapati Hambirrao' becomes that film which will yet again set a benchmark for Indian Cinema.
