Target to get 10 cr people enrolled in country, 12 lakh in Tripura: CM Manik Saha on BJP's membership drive
Agartala: Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha said that the Bharatiya Janata Party membership drive started in the state on Tuesday and currently the target is to get 10 crore people enrolled in the country. He said that they have set a target of 12 lakh members in Tripura.
"The membership campaign has started in our state from today. Right now our target is to get 10 crore people enrolled in the country. In Tripura, we have set a target of 12 lakh members. Everyone should come together to take the country forward," CM Saha told ANI.
"Yesterday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched the Membership Campaign 2024. Today, it has been initiated in our state as well. I was the first to take membership, followed by our BJP State President. All levels of party workers are now enrolling as members. This membership campaign is a part and parcel of BJP's system," he added.
The Tripura CM stated that in the previous campaign, over 18 crore people across the nation took membership.
"In 2019, I was in charge of the membership campaign in Tripura. At that time, we had set a target of three lakh members, but we ended up enrolling around six lakh members. This year, at the national level, we have set an initial target of over 10 crore members, which will gradually increase. In the previous campaign, over 18 crore people across the nation took membership. In Tripura, we aim to enroll around 12 lakh members this time, and we are confident of achieving this target successfully," he said.
"Our Prime Minister and (BJP President) JP Nadda Ji are working tirelessly for the country and the party, and people have placed their trust in them. Through this membership drive, we will get an estimate of how many people are with the Janata Party. I hope we will be able to fulfill our target. I urge all residents of Tripura to come forward and strengthen the Bharatiya Janata Party," the Tripura CM added.
Tripura BJP president Rajib Bhattacharjee said that the membership drive is a festival for the BJP.
"Sadasyata Abhiyaan' is a festival of BJP. Since 2014, the membership drive has been started online ...BJP will run a membership drive through missed calls. Yesterday, it was started by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Today, CM Makin Saha, started the membership drive in the state," he said.
Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday launched the BJP's 2024 membership drive by renewing his membership.
The new membership drive was launched with PM Modi getting the certificate for the renewal of his membership from BJP president JP Nadda. Speaking at the launch of BJP's 'Sanghatan Parva, Sadasyata Abhiyan 2024,' Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that BJP is not only the biggest party of the world but is also a unique party.
"BJP is not only the world's largest political party but also the most democratic party. No other party conducts its membership drive with such transparency and honesty as the BJP," he said.
As part of membership drive existing BJP members also need to renew their membership. The membership drive will culminate in the election of new party president. In his remarks, BJP chief and Union Health Minister JP Nadda expressed confidence that the membership drive will cross over 10- crore mark.
"Seeing your enthusiasm and the love of people of India for PM Modi as well as their faith in the BJP, I can confidently say that the Sadasyata Abhiyan this time will also cross 10 crore again," he said.
