Tanishk Bagchi address the backlash received for the remake of ‘Jedha Nasha’

Mumbai (Maharashtra): This year has been filled with several remakes of songs that have a special place in people’s hearts and minds. While firstly these remakes only targeted old Bollywood classics, now these remakes include some of the most famous songs that became viral on Instagram reels. It started with the very famous Manike song by Sri Lankan singer, Yohani. It was filmed for the movie, Thank God and starred Sidharth Malhotra and Nora Fatehi. The latest one is Jedha Nasha, sung by Amar Jalal and IP Singh. The song is part of the film ‘An Action Hero’ which stars Ayushmann Khurrana and Jaideep Ahlawat. It is picturised on Ayushmann and guesses who? Of course, Nora Fatehi!

However, netizens were not happy with these continuous remakes and even expressed their resentment on social media. Addressing these issues, composer Tanishk Bagchi stated that the original singer actually thanked him and said, “we want people to know that it’s our song”. Tanishk said, “You only know my name because I have recreated it. Log jaante hi nahi ki kisne gaaya hai wo gaana. However, this step of recreating the song and picturising it on Ayushmann Khurrana and Nora Fatehi will help the original singers in getting noticed. We are just becoming a window for these people to come out in the mainstream.”

He stated that the decision wasn’t his, to begin with, and the decision came to him after the actor and the singer decided to recreate it. He further gave the example of Manike and how the recreated version became more popular than the original track which helped give singer Yohani her due credit. He further added that the criticism would have been valid if he had made the songs with a different singer. He said, “In my songs, I make it a point that the original singers get the credit and royalty. Like with Jehda Nasha, we ensured that the original singers get to sing it.”
