State to purchase power from solar at ₹2.24, wind at ₹2.44
Jaipur: Electricity will be purchased at the rate of Rs 2.24 per unit from solar plants installed under REC mechanism in the state.
For this, about 35 solar energy producers have agreed to provide 135 MW electricity. Giving this information in the board meeting of Rajasthan Energy Development Corporation, ACS Dr. Subodh Agarwal said that the rate of Rs 2.24 per unit solar energy and Rs 2.44 per unit wind energy was fixed from solar and wind units installed under renewal energy certificate mechanism in a meeting in December.
He said that on March 31, 2019, there was a long demand to fix the rate of purchase of power from the plants installed under REC mechanism.
“This would enable solar and wind power producers to get the value of the electricity produced, while the availability of cheap electricity would also increase in the state,” he said. Dr. Agarwal informed that PPA will be done for power purchase from three biomass plants of 37.80 MW to be installed in the state.
Dr. Agarwal instructed for weekly analysis of power purchase arrangement saying that positive results cannot be obtained from monthly or quarterly analysis
