Sonu Nigam shares his views on the ongoing Ajay-Sudeep row
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Singer Sonu Nigam has never shied away from speaking his mind. He always had strong opinions and beliefs and he openly accepts them and even reacts to related topics. This time, the singer shared his two cents on the ongoing row between Ajay Devgn and Kiccha Sudeep.
At an event, the Kal Ho Naa Ho singer said, “Nowhere in the constitution it is written that Hindi is our national language. It might be the most spoken language, but not the national language. Tamil is the oldest language. There is a debate between Sanskrit and Tamil. But people say Tamil is the oldest language in the entire world.”
He further added that there are enough issues to be resolved with other countries, it is not advisable to start an issue within the country.
The debate started when Kiccha Sudeep was asked about what he thinks of South movies becoming pan-India compared to Bollywood, he replied, “you said that a pan India film was made in Kannada. I’d like to make a small correction. Hindi is no more a national language. They (Bollywood) are doing pan-India films today. They are struggling (to find success) by dubbing in Telugu and Tamil, but it’s not happening. Today we are making films that are going everywhere.”
This may have infuriated Bollywood actor Ajay Devgn who expressed his opinion on Twitter. He wrote in Hindi that if Hindi is not our national language, why does Kiccha Sudeep release his films dubbed in Hindi. To this, Sudeep replied, “And sir, I did understand the text you sent in Hindi. That’s only because we all have respected, loved and learnt Hindi. No offence sir, but was wondering what’d the situation be if my response was typed in Kannada!! Don’t we too belong to India, sir?”
