Sonam says Anil Kapoor was shocked by her pregnancy; revealed he was not ready to be a grandparent

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Sonam Kapoor and Anand Ahuja were recently blessed with a healthy baby boy. The duo made the announcement on their social media and overjoyed their fans who were waiting for the good news with bated breath. Right before her delivery, Sonam had been busy giving interviews and photo shoots. She did not take a rest and proved that she is a true girl boss by showing how to flaunt your pregnant belly in style. Opening up about how her parents took the news of her pregnancy, Sonam revealed that her father, actor Anil Kapoor was probably scared because he did not see himself becoming a grandparent.

During an interview with Vogue, the actress said, “I think my dad is scared. He doesn’t see himself as a grandparent—for a long time, he didn’t even see himself as a parent—but he was the one who got emotional when I told him I was expecting. He was shooting for Jugjugg Jeeyo in Chandigarh sometime before I broke the news to them and Mum and he was visiting some temples around the area. Now, Dad isn’t particularly religious or spiritual, so when Mum jokingly asked him what he was going to pray for, and he responded, 'A grandchild,' she was shocked.”

She further added that Anil Kapoor was never a father who cared about getting his daughters married. She revealed that he was always focused on their careers and added, “He always said, “Settle down when you’re ready and if you want, you can even stay at home for the rest of your life.”

The actress will soon make her OTT debut with a thriller series, ‘Blind’ soon.
