Solar panels must for 500 sqm & above land

Jaipur: Hospitals, nursing homes, hotels, resorts, hostels and residential properties on plots having more than 500 sq metre area will have to mandatorily set up rooftop solar panels.

The UDH department has amended model building bylaws for installing rooftop solar panels. Illumination in corridors, stairs & other common areas will also be required from the solar panels.

Till now, only “solar lighting” was mentioned in bylaws but now rooftop solar panels will have to be installed. Also, penalty will be imposed for noncompliance.

Rs 50 per square metre (built up area) will be charged from the builder in the first year. This penalty rate for hotels will be Rs 100 per square metre.
