Sidhu knew Channi will be the CM contender

Chandigarh: Congress state president Navjot Singh Sidhu has been out of the race for the chief minister's post from Congress.

He has been told that Charanjit Singh Channi will be the chief ministerial candidate from the party's side and the party will contest the assembly elections on his face.

According to informed Congress sources, according to the survey conducted by the party and the report of social media, Channi has got the maximum votes and Sidhu has lagged far behind him, although not as backward as the Aam Aadmi Party had shown in its survey.

AAP had released the figures of Bhagwant Mann and Sidhu and said that Mann was liked by 93 per cent people and Sidhu by 3.6 per cent.

In the Congress poll, Sidhu is seen getting double votes. However, the Congress high command had already made up its mind to announce Channi's name.

When Rahul Gandhi announced to declare the face of CM and the party started the survey, the initial report was in favor of Channi.

That's when the party decided to field him from two places so that the party could take maximum advantage of the bet that the party had made by making a Dalit, the Chief Minister.

It is nonsense, what AAP leaders are saying that Channi was losing from Chamkaur Sahib, hence he has been fielded from Bhadaur seat as well.

Remember how Narendra Modi, who was contesting as the prime ministerial candidate for the first time, also contested from both Gujarat and Uttar Pradesh.

He was not losing anywhere, but he fought from two places to make the most of his personality and charisma. Similarly, the Congress has waged a gamble of consolidating the entire 34 per cent Dalit vote by fielding Channi from one seat each in Malwa and Doaba, both the areas with the highest Dalit population.
