‘Shunyata’ unites humanity & philosophy: GS Shekhawat
New Delhi: Union Minister of Culture and Tourism Gajendra S Shekhawat inaugurated the special exhibition ‘Shunyata: Emptiness’ at the National Museum, New Delhi, on Friday. He emphasised that the Buddhist concept of ‘Shunyata’ is the epicenter of all philosophical branches, not merely synonymous with voidness. Instead, it is a cohesive concept that bridges existence and unites humanity. In today’s global geopolitical crisis, Shekhawat stressed that the principles of Dhamma, preached by Lord Buddha, offer a path forward for peace and resolution. Shekhawat also discussed how the concept of emptiness in both philosophy and art is represented in the formlessness of Buddha’s Holy Relics.
Dr BR Mani, DG of National Museum, and a gathering of dignitaries, diplomats, & others attended the event.
Shekhawat also reflected on his political journey, recalling his early involvement with ABVP and his entry into active politics in 2014.
He said that the recognition of India’s cultural values is increasing. Indian culture cannot be viewed through a divisive lens. The acceptance of Indian culture has grown globally. He mentioned PM’s mantra of ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas.’ Politics of division for vote banks isn’t correct, he said.
