Sena ‘voice’ drowned out in House?

Nagpur: Shiv Sena – Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray MLA Bhaskar Jadhav, who boasts of having bagged outstanding parliamentarian award in the past, is fast acquiring the tag of being the loudest voice of opposition political formations in the state legislature. During the ongoing Winter Session, the ruling dispensation stands accused of consciously attempting to stifle Jadhav’s voice by denying him adequate legislative airtime. Speaking with First India on Monday, Jadhav said, “It has become apparent to one and all that I am not being allowed to speak or to be listened to. This is despite the fact that I have never once used unparliamentary language in the Maharashtra Assembly. Even today, I was able to effectively sound out the ruling dispensation over its apparent acquiescence to Karnataka on the border issue.” In response to Jadhav’s protestations in the Lower House, Speaker Rahul Narwekar pointed out to the limited scope under the notice of motion under Section 35 that did not permit a wider discussion as per rules of the House. Reacting to Jadhav’s assertions senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, Mahendra Jain said, “He is merely a loudmouth who consistently speaks ill about his political opponents like Union minister Narayan Rane and his family and digresses from the subject being discussed. How can he claim any semblance of propriety in his legislature speeches?”
