SC rejects WB govt's plea against Calcutta HC order directing CBI probe into municipal recruitment irregularities matter
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Monday rejected the Bengal government's plea challenging the Calcutta High Court order regarding the transfer of the probe into the municipality recruitment irregularities matter to the CBI.
A bench headed by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud refused to entertain the plea filed by the West Bengal government which challenged the Calcutta High Court order transferring investigation of municipality recruitment matters to the CBI.
The court also remarked that it was satisfied that the teacher's recruitment irregularities were linked with municipal irregularities.
The lawyer of West Bengal called it a roving inquiry.
The single-judge bench order was affirmed by the Division Bench of Calcutta HC.
West Bengal government has approached the Supreme Court challenging the Calcutta High Court order in the matter relating to the alleged municipality recruitment scam. (ANI)
