Saurashtra body expects ₹ 100 cr investment

Rajkot: Following the recent visit of a high-power delegation from Uganda to Rajkot and Ahmedabad, Gujarat is likely to get business of over Rs. 100 crore,  according Saurashtra Vepar Udyog Mahamandal (SUVM), which helps MSMEs establish trade ties with countries in Africa and South Asia.

SUVM president Parag Tejura said, “A team of 20 delegates including Uganda Ambassador Mohammed Kezaala visited six factories at Ahmedabad and 14 factories in Rajkot, Morbi, Bhavnagar, Gondal and Jasdan from September 27 to October 3.

They evinced keen interest in our products and we expect business of over Rs 100 crore. A Morbi company is keen to set up a ceramic factory in Uganda.”

“Uganda also plans to collaborate with engineering colleges in Rajkot where they expect to send around 1,000 students for engineering courses”, Tejura added.

The delegation has shown interest in various things such as; oxygen plants, ventilators, hospital equipment and furniture, dairy machinery etc.

The delegation included former member of Uganda parliament and the east African legislative assembly, Tiperu Nusura, Deputy national treasurer of the ruling party (NRM) Jackilean Kyatuheire and current Member of Parliament Brandon Aex kintu.
