Sambhaji sets Sambhaji’s ‘record’ straight, hits back at Ajit Pawar!

Mumbai: While it seemed that opposition parties in Maharashtra had upper hand on government on issue concerning alleged ‘remarks’ on Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, however, that ‘edge’ seems to have been lost after NCP leader Ajit Pawar recently claimed that Shivaji’s son - Sambhaji - was not a ‘Dharmaveer’. On Monday, Shivaji and his son Sambhaji’s descendant and erstwhile Kolhapur royal - Sambhajiraje Chhatrapati - hit back sharply at the NCP leader and stressed that such comments ‘do not behove of a good leader’. “Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj established Hindu Swarajya. This Hindu Swarajya was protected by Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj, Chhatrapati Tarabai. No one can deny that Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj also protected Dharma,” the Kolhapur royal said.

“Sambhaji Maharaj is the protector of Swarajya and Dharma. Pawar should reveal evidence on basis of which he has made this comment. Don’t comment on anything without studying it. Ajit Pawar’s statement is wrong and he has spoken half truth. It is true that he said Swarajya Rakshaks (for Sambhaji), but the statement that he was no Dharamveer is c o m p l e t e l y false,” explained Sambhajiraje and issued an appeal, “I request all the leaders that as far as history is concerned, the statement being made is not correct. We should reflect on the analysis done by the historians. Still you create controversy by saying something wrong. It does not behove responsible leaders.”
