Sambhaji sacrificed self, hence called Dharmaveer: Shinde targets Ajit

Mumbai: Statements on historic icons like Chhatrapati Shivaji, by Governor BS Koshyari and other BJP leaders, had raised the political temperature of Maharashtra. But now Ajit Pawar’s comments on Sambhaji are being targeted by ruling coalition. On Sunday, Chief Minister Eknath Shinde targeted Pawar and stressed that Sambhaji sacrificed his life for nation and religion.

Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, said on Sunday, “Everyone should speak with wisdom and discretion, because, Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj sacrificed for the country, for religion, for Swaraj. Aurangzeb tortured Sambhaji Maharaj, yet he did not compromise for religion and independence. Neither you nor we have given the title of Dharamveer.”

“Sambhaji Maharaj has protected Swarajya. That’s why it is not right for people like Ajit Pawar to speak like this. He should speak with full knowledge. Ajit Pawar criticized those who insult great men, but such statement is also condemnable,” CM Shinde said.
