SAMAJWADI PARTY IS WORRIED TO SAVE MAINPURI STRONGHOLD
New Delhi: There are some areas in Uttar Pradesh, which have been a stronghold of the Samajwadi Party for a long time. Mainpuri is one such region from where Mulayam Singh Yadav won the Lok Sabha elections. Another similar SP fort was Azamgarh, which has now ‘collapsed’. Akhilesh Yadav won the Lok Sabha elections from Azamgarh. But after becoming an MLA this year, he resigned from his seat. On that seat, the party had contested Mulayam Singh’s nephew Dharmendra Yadav, who was a multipletime MP from Badaun, but he was defeated by Bhojpuri film actor and BJP candidate Dinesh Lal Yadav Nirhua. However, he lost by a small margin of eight thousand votes and it was largely due to BSP’s Muslim candidate Shah Alam getting 2.66 thousand votes. Yet a fort of the Mulayam family has collapsed.
This time, SP names Dimple Yadav as its candidate from Mainpuri. This seat is believed to be more secure than Azamgarh and yet, the SP is worried about many things.
