RRR selected for two nominations at the Golden Globes this year

Mumbai (Maharashtra): SS Rajamouli’s RRR has become a global phenomenon and has been conquering international platforms. While Rajamouli is busy contending for the Oscars entry, he has had another welcoming success as the film has been selected for two nominations at this year’s Golden Globes. The film is contending for two categories - Best Picture - Non-English and Best Original Song - Motion Picture categories for the song Naatu Naatu.

After the announcement was made official, SS Rajamouli took to Twitter to thank the Hollywood Foreign Press Association (HFPA), the body responsible for conducting the Golden Globes. He also shared his gratitude to the fans for supporting the film for so long. He wrote, “Thanks to the jury at @goldenglobes for nominating #RRRMovie in two categories. Congratulations to the entire team... Thanks to all the fans and audience for your unconditional love and support throughout”.

The cast of the film also expressed their happiness and gratitude through their social media. Jr NTR took to his Twitter to congratulate the team and convey his delight. He wrote, “Delighted that #RRRMovie has been nominated in two categories at the Golden Globe Awards! Congratulations to all of us... Looking forward.”



Alia posted an Instagram story of the announcement along with some heart emojis.

While filmmaker Shekhar Kapur congratulated SS Rajamouli for the nominations, he contended that there should not have been a nomination category for Best Picture in the Non-English category. “The path to the Oscars for RRR becomes clearer. But I still don’t get why the Golden Globes hold on to a category called ‘Best film in a non English language??RRR deserves to be in the best film category. Period. Congratulations @ssrajamouli.”



RRR is a pan-India film starring Jr NTR, Ram Charan, Ajay Devgn and Alia Bhatt. The period drama set in the 1920s is a fictional story set in pre-Independence India about two real-life freedom fighters - Alluri Sitarama Raju and Komaram Bheem.
