Rathore: New districts have become a noose around government’s neck

Jaipur: On the formation of new districts, Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathore on Monday said that said that Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, during the discussion on Rajasthan Appropriation No. 2 Bill, 2023 and Rajasthan Finance Bill 2023 in the House on March 17, 2023, without the report of the Ramlubhaya Committee, announced the formation of 19 districts and 3 divisions in the state.

“This announcement was made to return back to power. Today, it has become a noose around the neck of the government. The agitation going on in the state regarding new districts has turned violent. The Congress government is playing with public sentiments due to the elections,” said Rathore.

Rathore said that thousands of people are agitating for the demand of making Sambhar-Phulera a district, on which the police lathi-charged and fired tear gas shells. Rathore said that under Section 16 of the Rajasthan Land Revenue Act, 1956, new districts can be formed by issuing notifications only after taking opinion and suggestions from the public.

Ever since the announcement of the formation of the districts, the land mafia gang has become active in the declared districts, due to which an atmosphere of anarchy is being created, he said.

Rathore said that the government has made a provision of only Rs 2,000 crore for the formation of 19 districts and 3 divisions in the State, whereas, a new district alone would require this much budget.
