Rape and assault Horror engulfs Hyderabad, cases rise to 5 in single week

Hyderabad: The city of pearls, Hyderabad, seems to have lost most of its glory as repeated shocking cases of teens being raped are coming to light from the city.
 
With regular developments in each of these cases, they have gained a political color and are making huge headlines nationwide.
 
On May 31, a 12 year old girl was sexually assaulted by two men while she was traveling to her grandmother’s house. The cab driver took the girl to his friend’s house where both men assaulted the victim. She was dropped off the next day.

A report was filed after she went missing. During patrol, police found her at the Sultanshahi area on June 1. Both the accused, aged 36, Mohd Luqman Ahmed Yazdani and Shaik Kaleem Ali have been arrested bt the police.
 
Well this was just the beginning of the mortifying horror that was to follow. In just another couple of hours on May 31, another case from Hyderabad made headlines when a girl who worked at a retail store was sexually assaulted by 21-year-old Mohd Sufyan who took her home. The girl complained of stomach ache subsequently after the incident and the accused was arrested by the police.
 
Another horrifc incident came into plain sight in current times only when a minor orphan was raped on April 22. The 16 year old went to a birthday party with an accused who wanted to speak to her privately in the car and also buy a cake for celebration. The girl was raped and a phone was found with her in the orphange. During the questioning, the victim revealed that the accused gave her the phone.
 
The accused Suresh, who is 23 years old, was arrested and case was booked at Ramgopalpet police station.
 
The fourth case was of a minor girl who claimed that she was raped in a movie theatre by a boy who was also a minor. The boy lured her to watch a movie and they were in contact for a few months. The incident took place a month ago and a report was filed at Rajendra Nagar circle police station.
 
And all these cases came along with a case which stunned all of us to the core.
 
A seventeen year old girl was gang-raped by five people which included minors belonging to political parties. The girl was returning from a party in the Jubliee Hills area of the city on May 28. The boys offered the girl a ride home late at night. In its stead, they went to a coffee shop and changed into an Innova. The girl was then gang-raped. Each of them took turns while the other stood outside to guard the vehicle, as per the reports by the police.
 
One of the minors among five is the son of a leader from Telangana Rashtra Samithi party (TRS), the party of Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao. The whole case has infuriated a burning feud between the ruling party and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). As per the reports, another minor who has been taken into custody is son of a political leader from Sangareddy.
 
At first, a case of "outraging modesty" was registered when the girl’s father filed a complaint. Later on, it was changed to a rape case.
