Punjab: Cross-border drug smuggling racket busted, 12 kg heroin seized

Amritsar: State Special Operation Cell (SSOC), Amritsar claimed to have busted a cross-border heroin smuggling racket and arrested a man along with recovery of 12 kg of heroin from him.
DGP Punjab Police, Gaurav Yadav in a post on X, said, "Big Blow to Trans-Border Narcotic Network: SSOC Amritsar has busted a cross-border heroin smuggling racket and arrested one person and recovered 12 Kg Heroin."
The post by the DGP Punjab also mentioned that drones were being used to transport drugs from Pakistan.
DGP further in his post informed that the apprehended individual has direct links with the infamous drug smuggler Ranjeet who is also known as Cheeta and his brother Sarwan, also known as Bhola.
"Arrested person is having direct links with infamous drug smuggler Ranjeet @ Cheeta who was arrested in May'20 for 532 Kg Heroin haul and his brother Sarwan S @ Bhola operating from the USA," said DGP Yadav in his post on 'X'.
He further mentioned that the Punjab police, as per the vision of Punjab CM Bhagwant Singh Mann, is committed to making Punjab, a drug-free state.
Earlier this month, hitting hard at the trans-border narcotic network, an intelligence-led operation, CI (counter-intelligence) Ferozepur, recovered 12 kgs of heroin and apprehended 2 people.
As per the information from the Punjab Police, an FIR under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act was registered into the matter and an investigation was launched to establish backward and forward links.
