Prez & Dr Lakshyaraj discuss Mewar legacy
Udaipur: President Droupadi Murmu visited the City Palace during her trip to Udaipur on Thursday and held a detailed discussion with Dr Lakshyaraj Singh Mewar, a member of the erstwhile royal family, on various issues.
Invited by Dr Mewar, President Murmu was welcomed with ‘Mewari’ traditions, and he expressed gratitude for her visit. Governor Haribhau Kisanrao Bagade and Dy Chief Minister Prem Chand Bairwa accompanied the President.
During their hour-anda-half discussion, Dr. Mewar and President Murmu focused on the valor of legendary Mewar kings like Maharana Pratap and Rana Sanga, alongside contemporary issues. They explored the cultural ties between Mewar and Odisha, noting that both the President and Dr Mewar’s wife, Nivritti Kumari, are from Odisha. Dr Mewar’s father-in-law, Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, is the Dy CM in Odisha’s BJP govt, while his motherin-law, Sangeeta Kumari Singh Deo, is a five-term BJP MP from Balangir.
