Police launch offensive against liquor mafia
Agra: On August 24, after the death of ten people due to spurious liquor in Agra, the Agra Police had launched an offensive against the liquor mafia. The police raided places in quick succession and fearing police action some of the miscreants involved in spurious liquor surrendered while some escaped from Agra.
In the incident of August 24, 10 people lost their lives due to spurious liquor in Tajganj, Shamsabad and Dauki in Agra. Following the incident, the CM & the DGP took cognizance of the incident & directed the Agra administration to submit a report on the incident at the earliest. After the direct intervention of head of the state, 11 police personnel and 5 employees of the Excise Department were attached to the line.
On Tuesday, the police investigating into the spurious liquor scandal uncovered an illegal liquor factory being operated in the kitchen of HS Marriage Hall by the arrested accused Dara Singh, Hariom & Bantu.
SSP Muniraj said that during interrogation of the arrested accused, the truth of the poisonous liquor factory was spit out by the accused. He added that the accused used to supply liquor on demand & they used to bring chemicals used to make liquor from Dhailpur & surrounding areas. The HS Marriage Home was raided by the police & have recovered chemicals, packaging materials and spurious liquor from the spot.
