PM Modi meets Nagaland governor La Ganesan in Delhi
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday met Nagaland governor La Ganesan in Delhi.
PM Modi discussed the centre's plans for the Nagaland state on various topics such as security and development.
On February 2023, La Ganesan was appointed as the 19th Governor of Nagaland by President Droupadi Murmu. Before Nagaland, he assumed the office of Governor of West Bengal.
La Ganesan is a former member of parliament, he was also appointed as the General Secretary of Tamil Nadu In his political career.
Earlier on Thursday, on the occasion of National Sports Day (Major Dhyan Chand's birthday), Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his heartfelt tribute to the legendary hockey player.
In his tweet earlier today, Prime Minister Modi emphasized the importance of recognizing all those who have passionately contributed to sports and proudly represented India on the global stage.
PM Modi reaffirmed the government's commitment to supporting sports at all levels to create an ecosystem where every young Indian can aspire to play and shine.
"Greetings on National Sports Day. Today we pay homage to Major Dhyan Chand Ji. It is an occasion to compliment all those passionate about sports and those who have played for India. Our Government is committed to supporting sports and ensuring more youth are able to play and shine," PM Modi wrote on X.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi also had a telephonic conversation with Gujarat CM Bhupendra Patel where he enquired about the flood situation and relief measures for the affected people.
In a post on X, CM Patel said that the PM guided him on matters including restoring public life quickly.
"As it has been raining heavily for the last three days across Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji once again had a telephonic conversation with me this morning to get information about the situation. He learned about the relief measures for the affected people of various districts of the state. Expressing concern over the flooding of the Vishwamitri river in Vadodara, he sought details of the relief and assistance being provided to the affected people," he said.
