EXCLUSIVE! Pankaj Tripathi gets teary-eyed as he recalls his journey in the film industry so far

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Pankaj Tripathi is one of the most versatile actors in the Indian film industry. He has captured the hearts of the audience with his stunning performance. Be it playing the ruthless Kaleen Bhaiya in Mirzapur or the hilarious Rudra in Stree, Pankaj Tripathi has aced every character. The actor recently sat down for some #UnfilteredBaat-chit about his newest character in Sherdil, his career so far, appreciation for nature and more with First India Filmy.

Talking about his upcoming film, he stated, “It is a story about lion-hearted people. When I heard the story from Srijit Mukherjee, I loved it. The subject is important and the idea that a man goes to a tiger to get killed by it is brilliant as well. I am just thankful to our director, Reliance and T-Series for making me a part of such a beautiful and important film.”

The actor added, “The real-life story on which the film is based had a personal reason. But the makers have twisted it in such a way that it has also gotten a social angle to it.

Being an actor that immerses into the character that he plays, Pankaj Tripathi shared that a character wears off from his mind a few days later but it is the only thing he thinks of when shooting. “I visit the characters when I am promoting the films. So, right now as I promote Sherdil, I really miss Gangaram’s view of the forest,” he added.

On why he mostly portrays such grounded roles, Pankaj revealed, “I am a very responsible actor who loves to read. I live a very normal life. I know what is being cooked at home because I decide it. So, I may be in the film industry, but I live a very ordinary life. Somewhere I am attached to that grassroot level. I don’t like glamour. I am an actor by career, so why would I act in real life as well.”

About his love for nature, the Mimi actor stated, “There are a lot of coconut trees near my house. When I look at them, all I can think about is that those trees give us so much in the return for so little. I think we humans are small in front of them.”

He also praised the OTT for giving even the smallest character the utmost recognition and creating a space for such small actors to showcase their talent. Pankaj also stated that OTT would have made his journey easier if it had come sooner.

Recalling his journey, he revealed, “It is a game of time. Maybe previously my characters got scrapped because they were not important enough. It is okay. It’s an organic journey. A person should only keep learning from his experiences. I never thought people would love me so much. You think you write your life’s script, but it is being made somewhere else. You just have to work hard, everything else will be looked after.”
