Over 500 Scrub Typhus, 4,200 Dengue cases in State so far

Jaipur: The cases of scrub typhus and dengue have surged in Rajasthan, particularly after rains. At SMS Hospital alone, 11 patients have died from scrub typhus—one in May, two in August, and eight in September.

A total of 535 positive scrub typhus cases have been reported so far. In the past three days, three patients have died from dengue in various districts and there over 4,200 dengue-positive cases as per the government data.

However, this number could be 5,000. Surprisingly, despite these figures, the health department claims zero deaths from both diseases.

When questioned about the situation, Principal Secretary Gayatri Rathore stated that an investigation into the death cases will be conducted.

Regarding the death of a doctor in Dausa, she said commemts will be made only after reviewing the report. Dr. RP Mathur, Director of Public Health said that every hospital has a death audit committee that examines records and includes patient data in their reports.
