New Delhi Film Foundation honoured at the Mumbai Independent Film Festival

Mumbai (Maharashtra): New Delhi Film Foundation, the premier film society of the capital Delhi, was honoured at the Mumbai Independent Film Festival held in Mumbai.

This was the second year of this five-day international film festival organized in association with the Mumbai Film Academy and Film Freeway.

In the festival, films were selected from hundreds of entries including films from abroad and were nominated in different categories. New Delhi Film Foundation participated in this film festival as an organizational partner. Festival Chairman Haril Shukla said that Mumbai Independent Film Festival is specially designed for independent filmmakers who would like to present their creativity with an understanding that the work is submitted to a jury comprising of actors, producers, filmmakers & independent scriptwriters.

Milan Subhash Rathod's 'Voong Voong' won the Best Short Film award while Sydney-based filmmaker Anita Brar's 'Crossing the Line' bagged the Best Documentary Film award at the award function of the 2022 edition held at Gangadhar Khaitan Auditorium in Mumbai. This film narrates the story of those people who witnessed the partition of India and Pakistan with their own eyes and crossed the border during that time.

Kerala-based filmmaker Dr Shemin Nair's film 'Tide of Lies' won the Best Feature Film award. Apart from these, many other films and filmmakers were honoured in different categories. Ashish Kumar Singh, Founder-General Secretary, of the New Delhi Film Foundation, said that NDFF played a vital role in engaging filmmakers in this festival and in connecting those who have a serious approach towards films and filmmaking in the country and abroad.

He told this was the third International Film Festival in which NDFF has actively participated. New Delhi Film Foundation is preparing to organize an international film festival in Delhi next year, which will be announced soon.
