MVA MPs meet Shah, apprise him of border tinderbox!

Mumbai: Union Home Minister met with parliamentarians of the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) alliance--comprising the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Shiv Sena - Uddhav Balasaheb Thackeray and the Congress--led by NCP MP Supriya Sule on Friday. The delegation apprised Shah of the tense situation that has arisen over the border dispute between Maharashtra and Karnataka, and also discussed other issues pertaining to Maharashtra. Notably, the meeting comes a day after Shah was originally to have met the MPs. Following Friday’s meeting, an NCP leader told the press that Shah will meet the Chief Ministers Eknath Shinde and Basavaraj Bommai, of Maharashtra and Karnataka, respectively, on December 14 regarding the ongoing border dispute between the two states.

Kolhe, a Lok Sabha member from Maharashtra’s Shirur, said that MVA delegation warned Shah that the border dispute is now a tinderbox that could lead to violence, during the meeting, after which Shah called for the meeting with the CMs. Meanwhile, a vigorous demonstration took place outside Maharashtra Bank in Bengaluru regarding the border dispute. According to those present, members of the Namma Karnataka Sena staged a protest against the Maharashtra government outside the bank located in Gandhinagar, after which the police detained them.
