MAMATA ANGRY OVER ‘STUCK’ RAJYA SABHA SEAT

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is upset with the party’s political campaign in Goa since the ‘rosy picture’ drawn before her regarding her party’s electoral chances and the assurance given to her, have turned to be nought.

She is said to be most upset that a Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha seat got stuck in the affair of Luizinho Flario.

According to informed sources, Flario had joined Trinamool cracking a major deal. It was then said that he would contest the assembly elections and would vacate the Rajya Sabha seat after winning.

It is being told that Mamta Banerjee was going to give that Rajya Sabha seat to Yashwant Sinha. But at the last moment, Flario has refused to contest the assembly election.

The term of the Rajya S a b h a seat of Luizinho Flerio is till April 2026. He is 70 years old and even if he doesn’t do anything, then too he will remain a member of upper house till 2026.

He will be of no use to the Trinamool Congress after the Goa assembly elections are over. Mamata also feels that she will hardly contest the Lok Sabha elections in 2024.

That’s why she is angry with the leaders a n d election strategist Prashant Kishor who has pitched Trinamool in Goa.

After the Rajya Sabha seat was not vacated, Mamata has made Yashwant Sinha a member of the party’s National Working Committee.

Now keep in mind that no seat is being vacant in West Bengal in the biennial elections to the Rajya Sabha this year.

In Bengal, six seats will be vacant in August next year and five in April of 2024. Therefore, all Trinamool leaders will have to wait till then.
