Mallika Sherawat recalls being offered Jalebi Baby and rejecting it instantly

Mumbai (Maharashtra): The entire world is grooving to ‘Jalebi Baby’ and the song has shot Tesher to International fame. But the international fans may not get the context when they listen to the song, but Indians are instantly reminded of the classic hit ‘Jalebi Bai’ from ‘Double Dhamaal’ starring Mallika Sherawat. Now, the actress during a recent interview revealed that she was initially offered to star in the music video of Jalebi Baby but instantly rejected the offer, thinking it was a prank call.

She revealed that she was unaware of the popularity of the song and that it was later that she realised about it. People on the streets many a time would confuse the actress with the actress in the music video and ask “Are you, Jalebi Baby?”. Recalling the time when she was offered the music video, Mallika said, “They called me and asked me if I can do this song. Mujhe laga kaun faltu hai (I was like who is this person). And I told them, don't call and disturb me and get lost. I cut the call then. I wasn't even aware who was Tesher. How would I know? I get so many crank calls and I thought someone is doing a prank on me.”

Jalebi Baby, inspired from the item number starring Mallika is a 2020 song by Tesher which also got a remix version in 2021 with Jason Derulo. The song became an instant hit and was also frequently used in Instagram reels and TikTok videos. Meanwhile, Mallika is currently expanding her career in Hollywood after a successful 5-7 years of Bollywood career span.
