Lucknow: Death threats issued against BJP leader's father, Police registers FIR for extortion
Lucknow: An FIR was registered against accused Rajkumar Singh and one unidentified person for demanding Rs 50 lakh from a local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader, the Thakurganj Police Station in Uttar Pradesh capital Lucknow said.
The complainant, local BJP leader Premshankar Tiwari, informed the Thakuganj Police after his father Gopinath Tiwari received threatening calls from an individual named Rajkumar Singh (or RK Singh) over some property issue.
The accused threatened to kill Premshankar Tiwari's father after calling multiple times over the phone around 7:21 PM on November 10, the complaint said, adding that the accused Singh used abusive language as well while demanding 50 lakh rupees as ransom.
According to the complaint, Tiwari, a representative of Balrampur Estate, and his father were being threatened to give the money or vacate their land. While threatening them, the accused named another person called Ankit Dubey and threatened the victim with his life, the complaint read.
The complainant informed several cases of extortion, murder, double murder and fraud have been registered against the accused in Prayagraj. On November 11, according to the complaint, a man arrived at Premshankar Tiwari's residence asking him to either leave the Balrampur Estate land or give Rs 50 lakhs as ransom.
The police have registered a case against the accused and one other person who remains unidentified under sections 353, 351(4), and 308(4) of the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS).
