Kerala CM assures investigation over Nilambur MLA PV Anvar's allegations on senior police officers

Kottayam: Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, on Monday assured that there will be investigation without any prejudice following Nilambur MLA P V Anvar's allegations against senior police officers.
At a public function of police association meeting at Kottayam, CM Vijayan said, "There has been several allegations in the past day. Government's stand is very clear, there will be investigation without any prejudice."
He also mentioned that a police officer of the highest rank will enquire into this.
"Any indiscipline will not be tolerated in police, there will be action against those," CM Vijayan added.
Left backed independent MLA, PV Anwar had raised serious allegations against Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's political secretary P Sasi, ADGP law and order M R Ajith Kumar, Pathanamthitta SP Sujit Das.
He said that CM's political secretary and ADGP breached the trust of the CM and they failed to deliver their responsibilities honestly.
PV Anvar also alleged that he was doing a sting operation like recorded telephone conversations with officers, to bring out the conspiracy against the government. He mentioned further that with ADGP's knowledge, non-bailable offences were slapped against many CPI(M) workers who prevented a set of politically motivated YouTubers from disrupting CM's Navkerala Sadas, a public outreach programme at Arikode in Malappuram in November last year.
The Nilambur MLA also accused the police of lording over a gold smuggling network that helped some prominent jewellery shop chains in North Kerala.
Earlier on August 21, the Kerala Chapter of the IPS Association strongly condemned the alleged "derogatory, malicious, and defamatory" remarks made by Anvar.
The Association urged the MLA to retract his statements and issue a public apology. In its statement, the IPS Association highlighted that Anvar's comments were not only baseless but also highly troubling.
"The MLA's public comments are deeply troubling and unwarranted. He has labelled the District Police Chief as a fascist, likening the situation to Bangladesh, suggesting that people may be driven to extreme measures," the statement read. The IPS Association also pointed out that Anvar made sweeping accusations against IPS officers in general, alleging that many engage in "disgraceful behaviour," the IPS Association had said.
