Karnataka High Court adjourns hearing of actor Darshan's bail plea, to hear matter on October 28
Bengaluru: The Karnataka High Court adjourned the hearing of actor Darshan's bail application until October 28. The bail hearing was held on Tuesday headed by Justice Vishwajit Shetty, a single-judge bench. The actor's lawyer argued in court that Darshan was suffering from severe back pain and had to undergo surgery.
BV Nagesh, the lawyer who argued for Darshan, appealed before the high court that bail be granted to the actor on medical grounds since he was already undergoing treatment. Nagesh requested the court that the bail be given as soon as possible as actor Darshan requires urgent surgery. However, the judge directed the lawyer to submit the medical reports and scheduled the next hearing for October 28.
Darshan had recently moved to the Karnataka High Court to secure bail after the trial court denied the same. He has been named in the chargesheet in the Renukaswamy case where a 33-year-old resident of Chitradurga was murdered. The victim's remains were discovered in Bengaluru's Kamakshipalya on June 9.
Vijayalakshmi, the actor's wife, along with family members visited him at Ballary jail on October 18 morning. This happened after a civil court in Bengaluru rejected the bail plea of Darshan and Pavithra Gowda on October 14. Both are accused in the Renukaswamy murder case. However, another accused in the case, Deepak, was granted bail by the civil court.
The 57th Magistrate Court in Bengaluru had, earlier, adjourned the bail hearing for actor Darshan until September 27. Meanwhile, Gowda's hearing was also postponed till September 25. The proceedings began on the bail application of actor Darshan Thoogudeepa, Gowada and 11 other individuals who have been implicated in the Renukaswamy murder case.
