Karan Johar about Koffee With Karan: All the hate is virtual, it is not real

Mumbai (Maharashtra): Koffee With Karan is a show that is everyone’s guilty pleasure and Karan Johar makes for a host that makes you secretly fall in love with him. But he has been the subject of immense hate in recent times and the chat show was one of his projects that faced a lot of criticism. However, moving past everything, the actor has emerged more excited than ever for the next season of Koffee With Karan.

Karan recently opened up about the hate his show has received with PTI, stating, “There was a lot of social media hate generally towards Bollywood at one point and ‘Koffee with Karan’ popped up as one of the targets… But I knew even then that this is all virtual, it’s not real. It’s not really the truth because had it been why would Disney+ Hotstar want to do the show? Why would actors want to come on the show? Why would I be still interested in doing it? I think we were all aligned. And that’s why we realised that all that negative banter was just that — it was a mirage. It didn’t really exist. None at all.”

He also further went on to speak about the hatred directed towards Bollywood and questioned, “How can you suddenly start hating Bollywood, something you have loved for over 100 years?” The filmmaker expressed that he was never worried about the negative wave as it would pass away soon. He further added that the hate and negativity are the result of the people’s own frustrations and anger and hoped that the hatred that these nameless and faceless trolls spread will come back to bite them.

Koffee With Karan will premiere on Disney+ Hotstar on July 7, 2022.
