Karan confesses struggling with anxiety after trolls started attacking his children
Mumbai (Maharashtra): Koffee with Karan S7 has wrapped up but to say that everyone is still reeling from the fabulous season that it was might be true. Because it gave some shocking revelations, hilarious memes and obviously, a sassy Karan that had all the celebrities wrapped around his finger. But to top it all, Karan had invited none other than influencers, Kusha Kapila, Tanmay Bhatt, Danish Sait and Niharika M. It resulted in a riot of jokes, roasts and some deep and personal revelations from Karan Johar.
Karan revealed that he suffered from anxiety five years ago and the reason was all the social media trolling that targeted him and his family. He stated that although he thought he had a thick skin and was dealing with it, it was after therapy that he realised that all he did was push the problems and feelings further down. “They come down to even abusing my kids. Those are times when I feel like f***, just leave them out of it. I'm like, you can say whatever you want about me, my sexuality or about all the conspiracy theories they have that are really down and dirty. It doesn't bother me and it's not like I have not been in therapy and I haven't had issues in the past,” Karan said.
He added, “There was an anxiety issue that I combatted 5 years ago and that was when I really opened up. You know, when I spoke to my doctor and she was a psychologist and she said that you are actually brushing everything so deep within that you actually think that you are dealing with it and that you have thick skin but actually you are shoving it into a dark, deep area and that's all going to pop up at some time. So, she said you shouldn't. So, at least I started talking about this fact to people because I was not even telling people that I was in therapy and that I was going through an issue of anxiety for 3 or 4 years.”
After all the intriguing confessions on the show, it was a breath of fresh air to see the host himself lay bare his personal life and the struggles he faced in the past. Koffee With Karan has been revived for season 8 and will stream on the same OTT platform, Disney+ Hotstar.
