JDA paralyzed by bureaucratic inertia & corruption

Jaipur: The Jaipur Development Authority (JDA) is currently facing a complete standstill in operations due to widespread bureaucratic negligence and corruption.

Senior officials’ apathy has led to a halt in all JDA functions, exacerbated by recent revelations of corruption.

In a recent crackdown, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) arrested seven officials simultaneously, highlighting the severity of the issue. There is a general feeling the real estate sector that corruption has been institutionalized in JDA now and the demand for bribes has soared, with requests now reaching up to Rs 1 crore, compared to the previous Rs 10-15 lakh.

The online filing system has further complicated matters, with numerous files marked as “Discuss” and minimal progress in document processing, leading to near-zero delivery of services. Builders have largely withdrawn from their dealings with the JDA, waiting for changes in the commissioner’s and secretary’s positions.
