Is Kharge seeing early success in uniting Oppn?
New Delhi: Congress’s decision to retain Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge for two posts has proved correct. The party made an exception to the principle of one person, one post for Kharge. He is the National President of the party as well as the Leader of the Opposition in the Rajya Sabha. In the first phase of the budget session of Parliament, it has been proved once again that Kharge has been able to unite the opposition.
Since the presentation of the budget, he continued to hold meetings with the opposition parties and till the last day of the first phase, the parties of the opposition made their strategy by sitting in his chamber. Ever since Kharge was made the leader after Ghulam Nabi Azad, he has been uniting the opposition in a better way. But after becoming the national president, his stature has increased further. He is now doing opposition politics with more authority. As a result of his efforts, 15 opposition parties gathered in each of his meetings. Even MPs from Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharat Rashtra Samithi attended his meeting.
The AAP, the Bharat Rashtra Samithi and the Uddhav Thackeray faction of the Shiv Sena took a different stand on the issue of participating in the discussion on the Adani issue, but these three parties supported the Congress in cornering the government, raising the issue in the House and demonstrating in the Parliament House complex.
